Yesterday we tried telling stories in a different way...through music! We each got an instrument and decided as a group to work on retelling The Gingerbread Man. We had a chance to play our instruments and listen carefully to them and decide what kind of sound they made and which characters and events in the story they could represent. As Ms. Alison read The Gingerbread Man, we added our sound effects to tell the story: |
Then we recorded ourselves retelling The Three Little Pigs through music...this time with no words. What do you think? If you didn't see the pictures and only heard our instruments playing would you know the story?

Here is some work that we did with Ms. Stacey in music class today connected to our current unit of inquiry about stories: We created sound effects and contributed ideas to the continuation of a story using household objects. We explored facial expressions for characterisation, vocalisation, improvisation on instruments and movement. |
