This week Violett has been sick. Emma started writing a letter to Violett and then organized the students in her class to write their own names on the letter. She brought the letter to Violett's sister in Grade 1YT to take home for Violett.
Ms. Alison think this shows that Emma is caring because she is thinking about a friend's position and feelings. She is imagining what Violett is feeling like at home sick. She took time out of her own play and activities to show someone that she cares and to make them feel happy.
Emma thinks she was caring when she wrote this letter because: "I made a letter for Violett and I did it for her and she was sick and she was my best friend and it will let us to play with Violett."
Near the end of our first unit of inquiry 'Who We Are', we had a chance to "show what we know". We used the 'Draw & Tell app' on our iPads to show the important people in our lives and explain how they have influenced us.
Here is Emma's reflection:
Emma chose this piece for her portfolio because: "I like what I put on it."
In a celebration of the International Day of Peace on September 21, Kindergarten 1 shared their ideas of what peace is with the whole school through a song and a video in the assemblies. Emma thinks peace is . . .
when somebody gives a hug and then somebody says "it's okay" and then somebody says "sorry" and then you say "it's okay"
