As a class we read a story about the number 8. We learned how spiders are symbols for 8 because they have 8 legs and 8 eyes. Frankie loved this story and wanted his follow-up work to be included in his portfolio because: "8 is my favourite number because I like 8."
Frankie has been working on identifying the numbers before and after a given number and forming numbers correctly in writing. Today he worked independently to fill in the missing numbers in sequences. This is an example of Frankie's best work because he concentrated well and didn't rely on the number line to support his thinking. He took his time to form numbers correctly and double checked his work by saying the numbers to himself through a whisper phone.
