As a class, we read stories about the numbers one through 10. Through the stories we learned about symbols that represent the numbers and how to form the numbers. Violett loved these stories and wanted the review work to be included in her portfolio. She selected this piece because: "We drew pictures and the numbers and I learned to make the numbers and kitty cats."
Violett has been working on consolidating her knowledge of numbers between 0 and 10. She is practicing identifying numbers above 5 and naming the number before or after a given number. Here she is playing 'What's Missing?' with Wilma. The girls are using the 0 to 10 Number Line to figure out what number their partner removed from the card number line and also using the clue of what numbers come before and after that number.
Student-led conferences are a chance for students to take the lead and show their families some of their best work, favourite activities, and how much progress they've made over the year.
In other words . . . a celebration of learning!
Here is Violett's reflection on her Student-led Conference:
"I liked playing the math game because it was with mummy."
