Do you know the story "The Kissing Hand" by Audrey Penn? It's one of my favourites and a perfect read for the first week of school when mummies are being missed. Our class read "The Kissing Hand" online from Barnes and Noble's Online Storytime collection. We discussed what the story meant to us and then made our very own kissing hands. We loved the feel of the paint on our hands to make handprints. We used words like soft, squishy, wet, slimy, pokey, and itchy to describe how it felt. After the paint dried we practiced our cutting skills by cutting our hands out. Then we finished them off with a sticker heart and our names. Our kissing hands are now safely stored in our classroom so we can look at them any time we want and remember just how much our families love us.
