When it was time to "wake up" we each silently created watercolour paintings of our dreams. Then we had a class discussion about what dreams are and how they are connected to stories. | When we first read Where the Wild Things Are, we discussed the difference between what is real and what is imaginary. At the part of the story where Max sailed away in his private boat, Daniel wondered "Is that a dream?" This immediately started lively discussions and debates between the children about whether Max was dreaming and what dreams actually are. A few weeks later, we returned to the idea of dreams by recalling a dream we once had. We read the story Sleep Like a Tiger, which is about a little girl trying to fall asleep, and pretended to fall asleep ourselves. While we were "sleeping" we each put a picture of a dream we'd once had in our heads. |
