As a class we read a story about the number 8. We learned how spiders are symbols for 8 because they have 8 eyes and 8 legs. Axel loved this story and wanted his follow-up work to be included in his portfolio because: "There's a snake and a spider because to make the 8 he always has 8 eyes and 8 legs."
Axel has been working on consolidating his knowledge of numbers between 0 and 10. He is practicing identifying numbers above 5 and naming the number before or after a given number. Here he is playing 'What's Missing?' with Cameron. The boys are using the 0 to 10 Number Line to figure out what number their partner removed from the card number line.
